That doesn’t make cents!!!

I was trying to teach Haley (grade 2) the different units of money. I said “pretend we are buying a ball at the dollar store for 1$. How many pennies would we need knowing 100 pennies make up a dollar?” She said looking at me like i was nuts, “none”. I said, “WHAT??” She said, “We can’t use any pennies to buy the ball. They don’t make Canadian pennies anymore. It would be impossible!” 
Never mind old math vs new math. We don’t even have the same reference points to start out with. Sheesh! 
Wait another five years and kids really won’t know what we are talking about. It might be cheaper not to make cents(pennies) anymore, but they didn’t think through teaching economics to kids in the future. 
No more saying “penny for your thoughts” either. Well, this has been my 2 cents on the subject!

  
 

Black eye

Don’t you hate it when you have just applied mascara and then you sneeze. Black mascara to clean up under your eyes!  So funny and annoying. 

  

Keep working it

Keep climbing that mountain. The air gets thinner the higher you go. Harder to breathe but you’ll forget more that way. Makes the climb easier. Less on your mind that way. Which means less stress. 

  

Take the gamble

my friend is lactose intolerant. I asked if she wanted a slice of pizza. She said sometimes it hurts her stomach, sometimes it doesn’t. So basically, i said, it’s a crapshoot.
